 BJP's Claims  The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is the ruling party of India, has always opposed the autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir. They think of the autonomous province as a "nation within a nation". And for the "unity" of India, they claimed, the abrogation was necessary. Why have such a hard-liner approach towards J&K but not the Northeast? The Northeastern provinces of India are autonomous, though not as much as the former J&K, and have also witnessed a bloody insurgency. But abrogating their status does not seem necessary, somehow. Moreover, the Northeast is of a disputed status, too. Arunachal Pradesh is a dispute between India and China. The BJP also claimed that Ambedkar wanted the abrogation of Article-370 and 35A. Xi Jinping, according to the news agency, Xinhua, asked PLA troops to prepare for a war with India, during his visit to a military base in Guangdong.

All eyes are now set upon the Gupkar Declaration, which will take place at the Gupkar area of Srinagar, wherein signatories from various parties like the JKNC, JKPDP, Awami Itehad Party, JKPM, and other parties will meet together, looking forward to a way to restore the status of Jammu and Kashmir as an autonomous state. The only signatories that won't be present would be Engineer Rashid and IAS Shah Faesal. 

A Junior Commissioned Officer of the Indian Army suffered splinter wounds on his right arm upon Pakistani mortar shelling at the Line of Control, and the JCO has been hospitalised. 

A Kashmiri youth was hit and killed by an Army vehicle, a perfect example of the Indian hatred against Kashmiris. The even happened in the Batwara area of Srinagar, and protests have followed against the army. In other news, search operation is underway at Baramulla. 

An encounter broke out between militants and Indian Army at the Kangan Village, Chakoora, Shopian, South Kashmir, after a cordon and search operation by the Army. 2 militants have been killed. Search underway.

After the inauguration of 44 (as claimed) bridges in the border areas of Ladakh by India, the Chinese foreign ministry rightly said that it "did not recognise the Union Territory of Ladakh illegally established by India". Amid the standoffs and conflicts in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, China again says it does not recognise the Indian control of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. It must be remembered that the prologue to the conflict with China was created by India, who, on 5 August, 2019, abrogated the autonomy of the Internationally Disputed Region of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated into Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, house-arrested almost all native politicians, whether mainstream or separatist. After the High Court's orders, Kashmiri People's Democratic Party politician, Mehbooba Mufti, was released after more than year of suspension of democratic politics and freedom of speech in Jammu and Kashmir. She called the abrogation of Article-370 and 35A as unconstitutional, and asked the people to fight for their rights that had been snatched away on August 5, 2019. In other news, a soldier from Rajouri has gone missing with an INSAS magazine, in Budgam. Allegations have surfaced that he also carried a few Kalashnikov rifles. A missing report has been filed, but the police has not ruled out the possibility of Constable Altaf Hassan joining the militants.

The Indian Armed Forces recover significant munitions from Kupwara and South Kashmir. A search operation in 5 villages in underway in South Kashmir, meanwhile protests rock Rawalpora upon the thrashing of a youth by the Army.

Today, on Monday, 12 Oct, Gunfight broke out early morning in the Barzala locality of Srinagar between militants and Indian Armed Forces. 2 Militants have been killed, including a local LeT militant and a Pakistani, named Saifullah. More than 180 militants have been killed this year. Saifullah

2 militants have been killed in an encounter with the Indian Armed Forces. One of them is said to have been a top Lashkar-e-Taiba Commander. One militant has been captured alive.

2 militants have been killed in a gunfight at Chinigam, Kulgam. On the other hand, weapons supply bid at Keran, Kupwara, has been foiled. 4 AK-47 rifles, 4 magazines and more than 200 rounds were discovered by the Indian Armed Forces.

New laws, giving power to to the Municipal Committe to levy and collect property tax on the natives of Jammu and Kashmir have been enacted by India. The law also allows exemptions to certain classes of people. Before the abrogation of the Kashmiri autonomy, this was not possible. But Government misuse is obvious. By levying property tax, they are generating revenue DIRECTLY from the disputed LAND. Moreover, the Capitalist Government may levy property tax on the natives, and exempt Indian Businesses. As Indian Businesses approach Jammu and Kashmir, market competition will rise, making the Kashmiri earn lesser in his own motherland. Meanwhile, a KAS (Kashmir Administrative Services) officer has accused the Government of deliberately sidelining Kashmiris, Kashmiri Muslims, precisely, in administrative roles. Of top 66 Bureaucrats in Muslim-majority J&K, 32 are non-natives of Jammu and Kashmir. Of the 12 sitting judges at the high court, only 2 are Muslims. There is not a single Muslim...

The police filed a chargesheet against 06, including a Pakistani militant, on a "Money and Technology Transfer" case. The accused are alleged of motivating the youth to join the JeM and providing logistical support to the militants. Further investigation underway.

Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit leader Ravinder Raina slammed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's statement on rehabilitation. The LG had appealed to the insurgents to surrender, and leave the violent path. He intended to rehabilitate such youth. Ravinder Raina has accused the militants of having bled Kashmir since 30 years on Pakistan's orders, while forgetting that more civilian deaths have been caused by the Indian Armed Forces, and not by the militants. Ravinder Raina indeed forgot AFSPA, the militarist law that restricts prosecution of any member of the Armed Forces even when murder of a civilian is proven, under the disguise of maintaining law and order. Ravinder Raina indeed forgot Sopore, Hawal, Gawkadal, Handwara and Nawakadal. 

Lalleshwari, or Lal Dyad, a female Kashmiri mystic, who is said to have influenced Sheikh-ul-Alam, is also responsible for the composition of the very first literature in her language, a language that now the majority of Jammu and Kashmir speaks.  This is a Vaakh of hers, which represents the original, secular aspect of Kashmir, the one of many ideologies together known as Kashmiriyat :- Śiva čhu thāli thāli rozān Mo zān Hyond tụ Musalmān  Truk ay čhuk pān panun parzanāv,  Soy čhay Sahivas sati zāniy zān. Professor Saifuddin Soz, a senior Congress leader and former minister, has asked all the political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, to join hands and work for the restoration of autonomy. He calls the abrogation of Article-370 and 35A, an act of oppression by the Government of India. According to him, the days of the APHC are gone with the resignation of Syed Ali Geelani. 

In Shopian, two people, Basit Muqbool, and Ehsan Muqbool, have been injured by Indian Army pellets, and have been shifted to SHMS Srinagar for advanced treatment. So far, the Shopian Gunfight resulted in deaths of 3 militants, and 2 civilians getting injured. There have been no reports of any military casualties. 

Habba Khatun, the famous poetess-queen under the reign of Sultan Yusuf Shah Chak, the last true native Sultan of Kashmir, now lies at a desolate place, forgotten. Habba's grave at Athwajan  Lying at Athwajan, her tombstone is cracking and eroding away, being subject to the brutality of the Kashmiri nature — the scorching sun of the summer, the rains of August, and the cold snow of the winters. While her poetry and songs still dominate and influence Kashmiri music, she, herself, has been forgotten.

An exchange of firing between India and Pakistan has been reported in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.  The Indian side claims that the Pak Rangers violated ceasefire and attacked the forward posts. No loss of life or property has been reported so far. Uri, near the Line of Control

The Indian Armed Forces have hunted down another militant in Shopian, with death toll on militants being 3, now. A search operation is underway. Internet in Shopian remains suspended. Meanwhile, drones are being used to monitor Srinagar-Jammu highway post-Ganderbal incident, in search of militant movement. The identified militant, Shabir Ahmad, hailed from Awantipora, South Kashmir, and the incident took place in Ganderbal, North Kashmir. Militants slain in Shopian encounter have been identified as Sajad Malla from Maldera Shopian, Junaid Rasheed from Tumlahal Pulwama and Mehraj Din from Arigam Pulwama. Of these, two were of Al-Badr and one of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen

The Losses The Dal Lake, which is one of the most scenic destinations in Jammu and Kashmir, is witnessing rapid destruction. Over the course of centuries, the Dal has been shrinking, constantly. In the 15th Century, the Dal, which was then called Sureshwari, has around 76 km² of open water. This had shrunk to 25.60 km² in the 19th Century, and further shrunk to 20.00 km² in 1930. By 1981, it's size was reduced to 11.70 km² of open water.  An Indian startup is about to install cafés and laterines around the Dal, thanks to the abrogation of Article-370 and 35A. Time will tell the fate of the Dal. Causes  The Dal is waterered by many streams. A lot of inorganic matter and nutrients enter the Dal with them. An encounter between militants and Indian Security Forces raged since yesterday in Sugan, Shopian. After a long siege, two militants have been killed. A fresh round of firing started. While the roots of the Armed Militancy in Jammu and Kashmir has roots in the 1960ies, the Armed Militancy was not the sole movement for freedom in Jammu and Kashmir. In the early 1990ies, peaceful processions and demonstrations dotted Kashmir. But these were not to last.  Sopore Massacre  In 1993, at least 43 people were murdered in Sopore by soldiers of the Indian Border Security Force. These 43 people were just passengers. These were, undoubtedly, reprisal killings for the killing of a BSF soldier by JKLF militants early that day. Gawkadal Massacre  In 1990, fire was opened upon peaceful protestors in the Gawkadal area of Srinagar by the Indian Paramilitary. 23 protestors are said to have died, while the survivors claimed that the actual number was more than 200.
