The Forgotten Queen

Habba Khatun, the famous poetess-queen under the reign of Sultan Yusuf Shah Chak, the last true native Sultan of Kashmir, now lies at a desolate place, forgotten.
Habba's grave at Athwajan
Lying at Athwajan, her tombstone is cracking and eroding away, being subject to the brutality of the Kashmiri nature — the scorching sun of the summer, the rains of August, and the cold snow of the winters.
While her poetry and songs still dominate and influence Kashmiri music, she, herself, has been forgotten.
